January 19 - Genesis 42:6 - 45:15

The story of Joseph is my husband, Scott's favorite Bible story and I understand why.  Goodness triumphs over evil because Joseph kept on simply making positive choices.

"And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the land: and Joseph's brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth."  Genesis 42:6 KJV

Josephs dreams came true. All you need to do is simply believe God's promises. When He gives you a dream, go after it! You will face hard trials along the way. What if Joseph had given up? He never would have realized his dreams! God's plans for you are so vast, you wouldn't be able to understand them if you tried. You don't need to know everything. You just need to simply trust Him, and do the right thing. Every time.

"Dear God, I have some pretty wild dreams. I don't see how they could possibly come true. At times they seem God-given, but at times they seem a little scary. Please lead me in Your perfect path. Please give me the courage to believe. Please transform my mind so that I see myself the way You see me. In everything I do, I want to praise and glorify Your precious name, the name of Jesus. AMEN."

"21 And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us.
22 And Reuben answered them, saying, Spake I not unto you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and ye would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required."  Genesis 42:21,22

The brothers had committed horrible evil against Joseph, but he forgave them. Not only forgave, but he provided them houses, land, and provisions! Maybe, until now, you haven't made right choices. Maybe you've done some things against others you're ashamed of. Just repent and turn it around. God has forgiveness, His limitless love and blessings waiting for you!

If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles. For then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear: (Job 11:14-15 KJV)
But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die. All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live. (Ezekiel 18:21-22 KJV)
But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. (Matthew 9:13 KJV)
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9 KJV)
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; (Acts 3:19 KJV)
"Dear God, I repent from my wicked ways. I wish I could say I was just like Joseph, who always made right choices. But I find myself acting more like his brothers. I want to turn everything around and follow in Your path of forgiveness, mercy, and blessings. I want to cling to righteousness. I want to cling to truth. I want to chase after You! Help me in my weakness to fall at the foot of Your cross. I worship You and thank You ahead of time. In Your precious name, AMEN."
