Genesis 6:1 - 9:29

"When men began to increase in number on the earth, and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose." Genesis 6:1,2 NIV

"There were giants on the earth in those days - and also afterward - when the sons of God lived with the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men of old, men of renoun." Genesis 6:4 Amp.

These handsome, wicked giants were considered heroes? Really? Interesting. Sounds like the world we live in today. (sports figures, movie stars - OK they're not ALL wicked)

"So the Lord said, I will destroy, blot out, and wipe away mankind, whom I have created from the face of the ground - not only man, but the beasts and the creeping things and the birds of the air - for it grieves Me and makes Me regretful that I have made them." Genesis 6:7 Amp.

My eyes became very wide when, as a young child, I first saw this Search for Truth Bible Study chart. I hung on every word as my Dad read the scriptures aloud. It is still just as shocking to me.

"But Noah found grace (favor) in the eyes of the Lord. ...Noah was a just and righteous man, blameless in his evil generation; Noah walked in habitual fellowship with God." Genesis 6:8,9 Amp.  Love, love, love this scripture. In the middle of the garbage we have to stumble through in this twisted, upside down society, we CAN live a righteous life!!! We CAN walk with God!!! I feel His sweet presence right this moment as I'm typing.

The remainder of chapter 6 describes the instructions given to Noah by God. Totally impossible and ridiculous instructions. But with God all things are possible. And when a righteous, obedient human locks arms with the God who can create something out of nothing, look out!!! Crazy, impossible things are about to happen!!!

One of my all time favorite scriptures is Genesis 6:22. "Noah did this; He did ALL that God commanded him."

I desire to do ALL God commands me to do. I have failed so many times in this area. Just finding favor with God is not enough. I have to move when God says move, and act when he says act. Noah faced so much ridicule as he obeyed God. He lost some of his closest friends. His obedience was a very lonely, treacherous path.  But as a result of his faithful obedience, he and his entire family were saved.

Dear God, please help me as I embark on this journey to be obedient to You in EVERYTHING! I want it to be said of me, "She did ALL that God commanded her." In Jesus' precious name, AMEN.
