January 1: God's Clear Voice
Genesis 3:1-6
Amplified Bible (AMP)
3 Now the serpent was more subtle and crafty than any living creature of the field which the Lord God had made. And he [Satan] said to the woman, Can it really be that God has said, You shall not eat from every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said to the serpent, We may eat the fruit from the trees of the garden,
3 Except the fruit from the tree which is in the middle of the garden. God has said, You shall not eat of it, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.
4 But the serpent said to the woman, You shall not surely die,
5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing the difference between good and evil and blessing and calamity.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good (suitable, pleasant) for food and that it was delightful to look at, and a tree to be desired in order to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate; and she gave some also to her husband, and he ate.
Notice Eve's first (clear) thought. "We may eat the fruit from the trees of the garden, except the fruit from the tree which is in the middle of the garden." Notice her second thought. "when the woman saw that the tree was good for food and that it was delightful to look at, and a tree desired to make one wise..."
Since my healing from panic attacks, anxiety, and depression on April 12, 2008, I have learned that I must listen to God's still small voice every second of every day. His voice is the quietest one 100% of the time; the other voices are loud and confusing in their attempt to drown out God's voice. His voice is most often the first thought. It's clear, concise, and based on His word.
Maybe you listened to the wrong voices yesterday. Maybe, like Eve, you made a wrong, life changing choice. Just fall at Jesus' feet and pray a prayer of repentance. He loves you unconditionally, unlike any human love you've ever experienced.
He will wrap you in His loving arms, wash you clean, and give you strength to face the day.
"Dear Jesus please comfort this one who has made a wrong choice and is filled with guilt , regret and shame. She wishes she had a do over, Dear God. She is shocked at the wrong path she started to travel down. Well, she DOES have a do over! She can change her choices starting this moment, on this first day of the new year. Thank You that Your mercies are new EVERY morning. You are worthy to be praised, Jesus. AMEN."
