Lamentations chapters 1 and 2

Lamentations 1:2

New International Version (NIV)

2 Bitterly she weeps at night,
tears are on her cheeks.
Among all her lovers
there is no one to comfort her.
All her friends have betrayed her;
they have become her enemies.
O the sorrow of sin. There's no sorrow quite like it. Wishing the clock could be turned back. Bitter tears of regret and shame.

Lamentations 2:11-17

Amplified Bible (AMP)

11 My eyes fail from weeping, my emotions are deeply disturbed, my heart is poured out upon the ground [in grief] because of the destruction of the daughter of my people, because infants and nurslings faint in the streets of the city.

12 They keep crying to their mothers, Where is corn and wine [food and drink]? as they faint like wounded men in the streets of the city, as their lives ebb away on their mothers’ bosom.

13 What [example of suffering in the past] is sufficient for me to remind you for your [comfort]? To what shall I liken you, O Daughter of Jerusalem? With what shall I compare you, that I may comfort you, O Virgin Daughter of Zion? For your ruin is as measureless as the sea! Who can heal you?

14 Your prophets have predicted for you falsehood and delusion and foolish things; and they have not exposed your iniquity and guilt to avert your captivity [by causing you to repent]. But they have divined and declared to you false and deceptive prophecies, worthless and misleading.

15 All who pass by clap their hands at you; they hiss and wag their heads at the Daughter of Jerusalem, saying, Is this the city which was called the perfection of beauty, the joy of all the earth?

16 All your enemies have opened wide their mouths against you; they scornfully hiss and gnash their teeth. They cry, We have swallowed her up! Certainly this is the day we have looked for; we have it, we see it!

17 The Lord has done what He planned; He has carried out and finished His word which He threatenedand decreed [a]in the days of old. He has demolished without pity; He has made the enemy rejoice over you and has exalted the might of your foes.

Luke 13:24-25

Amplified Bible (AMP)

24 Strive to enter by the narrow door [force yourselves through it], for many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able.

25 When once the Master of the house gets up and closes the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door [again and again], saying, Lord, open to us! He will answer you, I do not know where [[a]what household—certainly not Mine] you come from.

Are you putting in your token time with Jesus today, but continuing to live directly against God's word? Is there something in your life that you know is complete sin and you just cant bear to let go?  

Are you simply waiting till things get so bad you have no choice but to turn to God? 

Do you have the mistaken idea that if you go to church and are a kind, loving person you can continue living against God's laws and He will let it go?

Do you just ignore the tiny voice of conviction in your head telling you things must change if you want to be saved from God's wrath?

I am begging you today. Please turn to Jesus. Now. Simply turn and look towards Him and He will help you every step of the way. 

I have found by personal experience if I take one teeny step towards God, He will take a thousand giant steps towards me.

Please don't wait a second longer. There isn't time! Any second now it will be too late! Please hear the voice of God calling you.

"Dear Jesus, there is someone out there today who is longing for You, but at the same time she is not wanting to give up the pleasures of the lifestyle she is living. Pleasures? If she's honest with herself this morning, she will face the facts. In reality, she is more miserable than she has ever been. But she keeps waiting and hanging on to sin. But there's no time to be waiting around! Sudden destruction is coming and it will be too late. Please help her to simply turn and look at You. When You turn and gaze into her eyes, she will never be the same. I thank You and praise Your precious name, Jesus. AMEN."
