August 10: God Kept Reaching, But They Despised His Words

12 He did evil in the sight of the Lord his God and did not humble himself before Jeremiah the prophet, who spoke at the dictation of the Lord.
13 He also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who made him swear by God. He stiffened his neck and hardened his heart against turning to the Lord, the God of Israel.
14 Also all the chiefs of the priests and the people trespassed greatly in accord with all the abominations of the heathen, and they polluted the house of the Lord which He had hallowed in Jerusalem.
15 And the Lord, the God of their fathers, sent to them persistently by His messengers, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place.
16 But they kept mocking the messengers of God and despising His words and scoffing at His prophets till the wrath of the Lord rose against His people, till there was no remedy or healing.

2 But neither he nor his servants nor the people of the land listened to and obeyed the words of the Lord which He spoke through the prophet Jeremiah.
God kept reaching and kept reaching! Because He had pity on His people. But the people mocked the messengers of God, DESPISED His words, and scoffed at His prophets. Till there was NO REMEDY OR HEALING.
"Dear God I stand in the gap today for that one who is laughing at and scorning those who are reaching and loving her. Maybe she once walked with You but has been hurt or offended. As a result, she has turned her back on Your Truth entirely. Many times, behind the laughter and jeering, there is deep hurt and pain. Please help this lost sheep to come to herself just as the prodigal son came to himself. Please help her take a deep look inside of her heart and face the pain. And lay it down at Your feet. And turn her heart back to You. You are a God of compassion. You kept reaching for these evil people, time and time again. They would not listen. Please keep reaching for this one, O God. I pray that her heart softens toward You. I worship You for the great thing You are doing right now. You are Worthy of ALL honor and glory. In Your matchless name, the name of Jesus, I pray, AMEN."
