Judges 2:1-5
Amplified Bible (AMP)
2 Now the [a]Angel of the Lord went up from Gilgal to Bochim. And He said, I brought you up from Egypt and have brought you to the land which I swore to give to your fathers, and I said, I will never break My covenant with you;
2 And you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; but you shall break down their altars. But you have not obeyed My voice. Why have you done this?
3 So now I say, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare to you.
4 When the Angel of the Lord spoke these words to all the Israelites, the people lifted up their voice and wept.
5 They named that place Bochim [weepers], and they sacrificed there to the Lord.
Um, excuse me, a little late for sacrificing to the Lord. After all those multiple warnings time and time again, they did not obey.
1 Samuel 15:22
Amplified Bible (AMP)
22 Samuel said, Has the Lord as great a delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
There you go, children of Israel. You wanted this. Thorns in your sides.
This convicts me!!!
"God what is it that I am still allowing in my life? Please reveal it to me! I don't want to allow a little sin! I don't want to MOSTLY obey You O God! This is what they did. They MOSTLY obeyed. But not completely! Forgive me, O God! Cleanse my heart once again!!!"
