May 8. 2013: Catching Up.../Fear God and Guard My Mouth!

Psalm 111:10 AMP

10 The reverent fear and worship of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom and skill [the preceding and the first essential, the prerequisite and the alphabet]; a good understanding, wisdom, and meaning have all those who do [the will of the Lord]. Their praise of Him endures forever.

Psalm 130

Out of the depths have I cried to You, O Lord.
Lord, hear my voice; let Your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.
If You, Lord, should keep account of and treat [us according to our] sins, O Lord, who could stand?
But there is forgiveness with You [just what man needs], that You may be reverently feared and worshiped.
I wait for the Lord, I expectantly wait, and in His word do I hope.
I am looking and waiting for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, I say, more than watchmen for the morning.
O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is mercy and loving-kindness, and with Him is plenteous redemption.
And He will redeem Israel from all their iniquities.

Psalm 131: 1,2 AMP

Lord, my heart is not haughty, nor my eyes lofty; neither do I exercise myself in matters too great or in things too wonderful for me.
Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with his mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me [ceased from fretting].

Wow! Are we supposed to act like babies? Only when we are clinging to Jesus and allowing Him to comfort us!

Psalm 141

A Psalm of David.

Lord, I call upon You; hasten to me. Give ear to my voice when I cry to You.

Let my prayer be set forth as incense before You, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
Set a guard, O Lord, before my mouth; keep watch at the door of my lips.
Incline my heart not to submit or consent to any evil thing or to be occupied in deeds of wickedness with men who work iniquity; and let me not eat of their dainties.
Let the righteous man smite and correct me—it is a kindness. Oil so choice let not my head refuse or discourage; for even in their evils or calamities shall my prayer continue.
When their rulers are overthrown in stony places, [their followers] shall hear my words, that they are sweet (pleasant, mild, and just).
The unburied bones [of slaughtered rulers] shall lie scattered at the mouth of Sheol, [as unregarded] as the lumps of soil behind the plowman when he breaks open the ground.
But my eyes are toward You, O God the Lord; in You do I trust and take refuge; pour not out my life nor leave it destitute and bare.
Keep me from the trap which they have laid for me, and the snares of evildoers.
10 Let the wicked fall together into their own nets, while I pass over them and escape.

Psalm 146

Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!) Praise the Lord, O my soul!

While I live will I praise the Lord; I will sing praises to my God while I have any being.

Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no help.
When his breath leaves him, he returns to his earth; in that very day his [previous] thoughts, plans, and purposes perish.
Happy (blessed, fortunate, enviable) is he who has the God of [special revelation to] Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God,
Who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, Who keeps truth and is faithful forever,
Who executes justice for the oppressed, Who gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets free the prisoners,
The Lord opens the eyes of the blind, the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down, the Lord loves the [uncompromisingly] righteous (those upright in heart and in right standing with Him).
The Lord protects and preserves the strangers and temporary residents, He upholds the fatherless and the widow and sets them upright, but the way of the wicked He makes crooked (turns upside down and brings to ruin).
10 The Lord shall reign forever, even Your God, O Zion, from generation to generation. Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!)

"Dear Lord of my life, After studying Your word today, I am reminded that I need to spend a lot more time praising and worshiping You. And also detailing Your acts specifically! When someone says nice things about me, I like specifics. Exactly what is on their mind when they are complimenting me? What did I say? What did I do that they appreciated? I believe You are the same way. After all, You made me in Your likeness. And Your word is very specific. I need to spend a portion of my prayer time every day detailing Your mighty acts! They are listed in Psalms for me. Oh and today I love You specifically because You are an advocate for the widows and orphans. You rescue those who have NO ONE to speak for them. Thanks for standing up for the outcasts, the lowest of the low. Thanks for laying down Your life for the dirty rotten sinner. Such as myself. O Hallelujah! I'm so blessed! I don't deserve such love, Jesus. AMEN."
