March 20, 2013: Every Day God: By Staying Neutral, We Support the Enemy!

Judges 8:4-23

Amplified Bible (AMP)
And Gideon came to the Jordan and passed over, he and the 300 men with him, faint yet pursuing.
And he said to the men of Succoth, Give, I pray you, loaves of bread to the people who follow me, for they are faint, and I am pursuing Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian.
And the princes of Succoth said, Are Zebah and Zalmunna already in your hand, that we should give bread to your army?
And Gideon said, For that, when the Lord has delivered Zebah and Zalmunna into my hand, I will thresh your flesh with the thorns and briers of the wilderness!
And he went from there up to Penuel and made the same request, and the men of Penuel answered him as the men of Succoth had done.
And [Gideon] said to the men of Penuel, When I come again in peace, I will break down this tower.
10 Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor with their army—about 15,000 men, all who were left of all the army of the sons of the east, for there had fallen 120,000 men who drew the sword.
11 And Gideon went up by the route of those who dwelt in tents east of Nobah and Jogbehah and smote their camp [unexpectedly], for the army thought itself secure.
12 And Zebah and Zalmunna fled, and he pursued them and took the two kings of Midian, Zebah and Zalmunna, and terrified all the army.
13 Then Gideon son of Joash returned from the battle by the ascent of Heres.
14 And he caught a young man of Succoth and inquired of him, and [the youth] wrote down for him [the names of] the officials of Succoth and its elders, seventy-seven men.
15 And he came to the men of Succoth and said, Behold Zebah and Zalmunna, about whom you scoffed at me, saying, Are Zebah and Zalmunna now in your hand, that we should give bread to your men who are faint?
16 And he took the elders of the city and thorns of the wilderness and briers, and with them he taught the men of Succoth [a lesson].
17 And he broke down the tower of Penuel and slew the men of the city.
18 Then [Gideon] said to Zebah and Zalmunna, What kind of men were they whom you slew at Tabor? And they replied, They were like you, each of them resembled the son of a king.
19 And he said, They were my brothers, the sons of my mother. As the Lord lives, if you had saved them alive, I would not slay you.
20 And [Gideon] said to Jether his firstborn [to embarrass them], Up, and slay them. But the youth drew not his sword, for he feared because he was yet a lad.
21 Then Zebah and Zalmunna said, Rise yourself and fall on us; for as the man is, so is his strength. And Gideon arose and slew Zebah and Zalmunna and took the [crescent-shaped] ornaments that were on their camels’ necks.
22 Then the men of Israel said to Gideon, Rule over us—you and your son and your son’s son also—for you have delivered us from the hand of Midian.
23 And Gideon said to them, I will not rule over you, and my son will not rule over you; the Lord will rule over you.
Gideon was an amazing warrior, mightily used and favored by God. And yet, he certainly didn't have the favor of everyone.
Why? They were afraid that if Gideon lost the battles, they would be accused of aiding the enemy. They wanted to stay neutral.

Matthew 12:30

Amplified Bible (AMP)
30 He who is not with Me [definitely on My side] is against Me, and he who does not [definitely] gather with Me and for My side scatters.
When we refuse to give to God's work; when we refuse to participate in God's work; and when we refuse to respect those who are doing God's work, Just because we are selfishly looking out for our own interests, we are actually on the enemy's side!
One day we will stand before Jesus to give an account of our service to Him.

Romans 14:12

Amplified Bible (AMP)
12 And so each of us shall give an account of himself [give an answer in reference to judgment] to God.

Hebrews 13:17

Amplified Bible (AMP)
17 Obey your spiritual leaders and submit to them [continually recognizing their authority over you], for they are constantly keeping watch over your souls and guarding your spiritual welfare, as men who will have to render an account [of their trust]. [Do your part to] let them do this with gladness and not with sighing and groaning, for that would not be profitable to you [either].

Ephesians 2:10

Amplified Bible (AMP)
10 For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].

Wow! God's word pricks my heart every time!
It is our responsibility to support the work of God whenever and however we can! if we don't actively give our gifts back to God, we are, by doing nothing, actually AGAINST God's work! And we will reap what we sow. And if we sow nothing, we will be cast out into eternal punishment with the goats.

Matthew 25:31-46

Amplified Bible (AMP)
31 When the Son of Man comes in His glory (His majesty and splendor), and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.
32 All nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them [the people] from one another as a shepherd separates his sheep from the goats;
33 And He will cause the sheep to stand at His right hand, but the goats at His left.
34 Then the King will say to those at His right hand, Come, you blessed of My Father [you favored of God and appointed to eternal salvation], inherit (receive as your own) the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
35 For I was hungry and you gave Me food, I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink, I was a stranger and you [b]brought Me together with yourselves and welcomed and entertained and [c]lodged Me,
36 I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you visited Me with help and ministering care, I was in prison and you came to see Me.
37 Then the just and upright will answer Him, Lord, when did we see You hungry and gave You food, or thirsty and gave You something to drink?
38 And when did we see You a stranger and welcomed and entertained You, or naked and clothed You?
39 And when did we see You sick or in prison and came to visit You?
40 And the King will reply to them, Truly I tell you, in so far as you did it for one of the least [in the estimation of men] of these My brethren, you did it for Me.
41 Then He will say to those at His left hand, Begone from Me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels!
42 For I was hungry and you gave Me no food, I was thirsty and you gave Me nothing to drink,
43 I was a stranger and you did not welcome Me and entertain Me, I was naked and you did not clothe Me, I was sick and in prison and you did not visit Me [f]with help and ministering care.
44 Then they also [in their turn] will answer, Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?
45 And He will reply to them, Solemnly I declare to you, in so far as you failed to do it for the least [in the estimation of men] of these, you failed to do it for Me.
46 Then they will go away into eternal punishment, but those who are just and upright and in right standing with God into eternal life.
"Jesus, I want to support Your kingdom with everything within me. I want to give like You gave. I want to love like You loved. I want to live my life sacrificially like You did! I want to take up my cross and follow You.

Matthew 16:24-26

Amplified Bible (AMP)
24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, If anyone desires to be My disciple, let him deny himself [disregard, lose sight of, and forget himself and his own interests] and take up his cross and follow Me [cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying, also].
25 For whoever is bent on saving his [temporal] life [his comfort and security here] shall lose it [eternal life]; and whoever loses his life [his comfort and security here] for My sake shall find it [life everlasting].
26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life [his blessed life in the kingdom of God]? Or what would a man give as an exchange for his [blessed] life [in the kingdom of God]?
I don't want to cautiously follow You. I want to follow You with wild abandon! You are worthy! Jesus be the Lord of my life. In every way. AMEN."
