May 28: I hate my job! there HAS to be more to life than this!

Eccl. 1:1-11, 6:10-12, 3:18-22, 9:1-12, 8:16,17
Ecclesiastes 3:22
New International Version (NIV)
22 So I saw that there is nothing better for a person than to enjoy their work, because that is their lot. For who can bring them to see what will happen after them?
Ecclesiastes 9:7-11
Amplified Bible (AMP)
7 Go your way, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a cheerful heart [if you are righteous, wise, and in the hands of God], for God has already accepted your works.
8 Let your garments be always white [with purity], and let your head not lack [the] oil [of gladness].
9 Live joyfully with the wife whom you love all the days of your vain life which He has given you under the sun—all the days of futility. For that is your portion in this life and in your work at which you toil under the sun.
10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol (the place of the dead), where you are going.
11 I returned and saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong, neither is bread to the wise nor riches to men of intelligence and understanding nor favor to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all.
Matthew 24:13
Amplified Bible (AMP)
13 But he who endures to the end will be saved.
The Tortoise and the Hare

One of Aesop’s Fables
Illustrated by Arthur Rackham
Once upon a time there was a hare who, boasting how he could run faster than anyone else, was forever teasing tortoise for its slowness. Then one day, the irate tortoise answered back: “Who do you think you are? There’s no denying you’re swift, but even you can be beaten!” The hare squealed with laughter.
He also gives us dreams. We tell ourselves they are silly dreams. God NEVER tells us our dreams are silly. Why? Because HE is the giver of dreams. And the gifts to carry out the dreams.
I don't believe His will is for us to hate our jobs.
If you are "stuck" in a job you hate, you and only you have the power to change your situation. Pray. Pray for God's leading. And when negative thoughts overtake you, and I promise you, they will, pray some more. Add fasting. Lay your hopes and dreams at God's feet and watch Him work on your behalf.
Oh and one more thing: If there is sin in your life (I'm talking about an ongoing sin or bad attitude you are choosing to allow in your life), it must go. God WILL NOT bless your efforts until you clean up your life and your attitude.
"Dear God, I pray for the person out there who hates their job. The person who feels stuck. They are NOT stuck, God. Not if they have You working on their behalf. They have so many examples in the Bible and around them right now of people who have gone after their dreams. And realized their dreams. Give them the courage to take action. To repent of any sin and change their attitude. And fast and pray. You are the giver of all hopes and dreams. Help them to joyfully live each day! Help them to be the best worker they can be at what they are currently doing. Knowing You will guide them into Your perfect plan for their life. To use the gifts You've given them. We thank You and praise You! You deserve our highest praise! In Your precious name, the name of Jesus, AMEN."
“Beaten in a race? By whom? Not you, surely! I bet there’s nobody in the world that can win against me, I’m so speedy. Now, why don’t you try?”
Annoyed by such bragging, the tortoise accepted the challenge. A course was planned, and the next day at dawn they stood at the starting line. The hare yawned sleepily as the meek tortoise trudged slowly off. When the hare saw how painfully slow his rival was, he decided, half asleep on his feet, to have a quick nap. “Take your time!” he said. “I’ll have forty winks and catch up with you in a minute.”
The hare woke with a start from a fitful sleep and gazed round, looking for the tortoise. But the creature was only a short distance away, having barely covered a third of the course. Breathing a sigh of relief, the hare decided he might as well have breakfast too, and off he went to munch some cabbages he had noticed in a nearby field. But the heavy meal and the hot sun made his eyelids droop. With a careless glance at the tortoise, now halfway along the course, he decided to have another snooze before flashing past the winning post. And smiling at the thought of the look on the tortoise’s face when it saw the hare speed by, he fell fast asleep and was soon snoring happily. The sun started to sink, below the horizon, and the tortoise, who had been plodding towards the winning post since morning, was scarcely a yard from the finish. At that very point, the hare woke with a jolt. He could see the tortoise a speck in the distance and away he dashed. He leapt and bounded at a great rate, his tongue lolling, and gasping for breath. Just a little more and he’d be first at the finish. But the hare’s last leap was just too late, for the tortoise had beaten him to the winning post. Poor hare! Tired and in disgrace, he slumped down beside the tortoise who was silently smiling at him.
“Slowly does it every time!” he said.
God has given us gifts. He has given us specific gifts not just to use every now and then. He also gives us dreams. We tell ourselves they are silly dreams. God NEVER tells us our dreams are silly. Why? Because HE is the giver of dreams. And the gifts to carry out the dreams.
I don't believe His will is for us to hate our jobs.
