Dig and Pray
Luke 19:1-10
Zaccheus
Converted
19 Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. 2 And
there was a man called Zaccheus; he was a chief tax collector [a superintendent
to whom others reported], and he was rich. 3 Zaccheus
was trying to see who Jesus was, but he could not see because of the crowd, for he
was short in stature. 4 So he ran on ahead [of the crowd] and climbed up in a sycamore
tree in order to see Him, for He was about to pass through that way. 5 When
Jesus reached the place, He looked up and said to him, “Zaccheus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your
house.” 6 So Zaccheus hurried and came down, and welcomed Jesus with joy. 7 When
the people saw it, they all began muttering [in discontent], “He
has gone to be the guest of a man who is a [notorious] sinner.” 8 Zaccheus
stopped and said to the Lord, “See, Lord, I am [now] giving half of my
possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anyone out of anything, I will
give back four times as much.” 9 Jesus
said to him, “Today salvation has come to this household, because he, too, is a
[spiritual] son of Abraham; 10 for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was
lost.”
Today, as
I’m reading about Zaccheus, I am convicted. I feel like God is calling me to do
a LOT more door knocking. I feel like there are precious jewels out there that
aren’t going to simply show up at church.
I was just visiting with a young man whose mother is an alcoholic. He told me that she has driven away all of her friends because of her drinking. Oh God, I must reach this woman before it's too late!
There are so many out there who are just like Zaccheus and this woman. These people have never even considered going to church except for a wedding or a funeral. They have never even considered for one second that God is their answer. They have no concept of a God who created them and died on the cross for them. It is my responsibility to dig until I discover these precious jewels.
How? Door knocking and community outreach. One by one they will be saved. It's right in the Word.

Proverbs 11:30 -
The fruit of the righteous [is] a tree of life; and he that winneth souls [is]
wise.
Matthew 28:19 - Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
John 15:16 - Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and [that] your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
Daniel 12:3 - And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
Mark 16:15 - And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Ezekiel 33:1-9 King James Version (KJV)
33 Again the
word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man,
speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword
upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him
for their watchman:
3 If when he
seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people;
4 Then
whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the
sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.
5 He heard the
sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he
that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.
6 But if the
watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not
warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken
away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand.
7 So thou, O
son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou
shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.
8 When I say
unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to
warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but
his blood will I require at thine hand.
9 Nevertheless,
if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his
way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.
Who wants to join
me as I dig these precious jewels out?
“Dear Jesus, once
again You have brought me to tears of conviction as I read Your Word. I must go. I must dig out these precious
jewels. I must share Your gospel. I must
increase my efforts! I must continue to dig and pray, dig and pray. You will lead me to them. You have been assuring me that Your word is changing
me little by little. Well, it’s time for me to take action. My soul says yes.
How I love You, my precious Jesus. Your patience astounds me. You are worthy of
my highest praise. AMEN.”
