GOD Morning!  April 22
Boot Camp Day 47
I'm Fine

Luke 8:4-8, 22-25

And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable:
A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it.
And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.
And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it.
And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?
10 And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.
11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.
16 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.
17 For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.
18 Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.
I recently watched a TED talk. Mel Robbins was talking about the danger of saying, “I’m fine.”
I will recap what I remember.
The vast majority of us do not pursue our dreams. We say, ‘I’m fine.” We hit the snooze on our dreams. Or we give up entirely.
We have no excuse. We have the internet at our fingertips, telling us how to do anything from building a farm table to building a school in Africa.
Sadly, I’m that person. I have amazing ideas. I actually get confused, wondering which one I should pursue.
This brings me to the types of soil.
The seed is the word of God. Well, there are different types of “Word”.
Without going into Rhema and Logos, I know this… The “dream” that you have way down deep… That farfetched and laughable idea that pops into your head randomly… Realistically speaking, you can Google it and find out how to accomplish it… if you really want to!
Mel Robbins said something that I thought was absolutely wild. She said that scientifically speaking, the chances of any one of us being born is 1 in 400,000,000,000. Yes. Four Hundred Trillion.
You and I are not, by any stretch, ordinary. Each of us is so incredibly unique and has our own individual, God given creativity, placed in us specifically for a God given purpose!
We were created for greatness! But the majority of us never tap in to our amazing, unique only to us, creativity. Because we are fine, thank you very much.
What type of soil are you? What type of soil am I?
Hardened, shallow, weedy or good?
When it comes to pursuing my God given dreams, I’d say that I am a combination of shallow and weedy. Ooooh, that was hard to say. It hurts a little, even.
But, as I face the ugly truth about myself, I am seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.
I can change! I can keep digging up my heart soil, using honest prayer and God's word until it becomes soft, fertile, and ready for planting.
Ooooooh, more hard to swallow “Word”. If I don’t do something with my God given dreams, they will be taken away from me.
Oh, and if your life is just too messed up right now for you to pursue your crazy dream, read on.
22 Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth.
23 But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.
24 And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.
25 And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.
If your mess is your excuse, just give your mess to God. And get to work on your dream!

“Dear Jesus, I am so convicted right now. I am wasting my life away. Oh, some may think I’m doing great things for You, but I know myself so well. I am not really pursuing the big stuff that You have placed inside of me. I have moved forward at times in the past, only to be sidetracked by my shallow or weedy self. Please! I need You! I don’t want to be that slothful servant that I read about in Your word. How I love You, Jesus. With tears in my eyes, I am grateful for Your patience and love for me, a sinner. AMEN.”
