God Morning! August 23
Court Battles
1 Corinthians 6:1-8, 14, 17 Amplified Bible
6 Does any of you dare, when he has a matter of complaint
against another [brother], to go to law before unrighteous men [men neither
upright nor right with God, laying it before them] instead of before the saints
(the people of God)?
2 Do you not know that the saints (the believers) will
[one day] judge and govern the
world? And if the world [itself] is to be judged and ruled by you, are you unworthy and incompetent to try [such petty matters] of the smallest
courts of justice?
3 Do you not know also that we [Christians] are to judge
the [very] angels and pronounce
opinion between right and wrong [for them]? How much more then [as to] matters
pertaining to this world and of this life
only!
4 If then you do have such cases of everyday life to
decide, why do you appoint [as judges to lay them before] those who [from the
standpoint] of the church count for least and are without standing?
5 I say this to move you to shame. Can it be that there
really is not one man among you who [in action is governed by piety and
integrity and] is wise and competent
enough to decide [the private grievances, disputes, and quarrels] between
members of the brotherhood,
6 But brother goes to law against brother, and that before
[Gentile judges who are] unbelievers [without faith or trust in the Gospel of
Christ]?
7 Why, the very fact of your having lawsuits with one
another at all is a defect (a defeat, an evidence of positive moral loss for
you). Why not rather let yourselves suffer wrong and be deprived of what is your due? Why not rather be
cheated (defrauded and robbed)?
8 But [instead it is you] yourselves who wrong and
defraud, and that even your own brethren [by so treating them]!
Today’s passage of scripture seems to support my belief that God
can give us the wisdom to represent ourselves in court, as crazy as the idea
may sound.
“No weapon that is fashioned
against you shall succeed, and you shall confute every tongue that rises
against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me,
declares the Lord.”
Isaiah 54:17 ESV
“And when they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious about how you should defend yourself or what you should say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.” Luke 12: 11-12 ESV
Why not fast and pray for God’s wisdom instead
of forking out thousands and thousands of dollars for legal representation? If God be for us, who can be against us?
“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31 KJV
I am reminded of King David being hunted down by
Saul’s army. One man against an entire army. He had no hope of coming out
alive. And yet God rescued him, time and time again.
“After whom has the king of Israel come out? Whom are you pursuing? A dead dog, a single flea? …
“Just as
one hunts a partridge in the mountains.” (1 Samuel 26:20; 24:14, David said to
Saul)
"They
hated me without a cause" (David said this of Saul.)
"My
God, my God, why have You forsaken me?" (David said when Saul surrounded
him 1 Sam 23:26)
"Trust
in shadow of God's wings" (spoken by both David's grandparents, Boaz and
Ruth: Ruth 2:12; 3:9)
“Commit
yourself to the LORD; let Him deliver him;
Let Him rescue him, because He delights in him"
(Saul said this mockingly to David when he had David surrounded 1 Sam 23:26)
Let Him rescue him, because He delights in him"
(Saul said this mockingly to David when he had David surrounded 1 Sam 23:26)
Why not let God bring everything out in the open
in His time?
“Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.” Eph. 5:11 ESV
(Make sure your heart is clean – this is hard, and it’s also an ongoing task.)
“Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.” Eph. 4:31 ESV
Here’s another idea: How about simply letting
your enemy think he’s winning? Focus all of your energy on pleasing God.
“When a man's ways please the Lord, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.” Proverbs 16:7 ESV
Trust me, you don’t have a thing
to worry about. Except for yourself. Get yourself out of the way through prayer
and fasting. Let God fight your battle.
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 ESV
“Behold, you fast only to
quarrel and to fight and to hit with a wicked fist. Fasting like yours this day
will not make your voice to be heard on high. Is such the fast that I choose, a
day for a person to humble himself? Is it to bow down his head like a reed, and
to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? Will you call this a fast, and a day
acceptable to the Lord?
“Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo
the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?
Is it not to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into
your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from
your own flesh? Then shall your light break forth like the dawn, and your
healing shall spring up speedily; your righteousness shall go before you; the
glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.” Isaiah
58:4-8 ESV
“Do not hastily bring into court, for what will you do in the end, when your neighbor puts you to shame?” Proverbs 25:8 ESV
“And God both raised the Lord to life and will also raise us up by His power.” 1 Cor. 6:14 AMP
Let go and let God. He will raise you up by His power.
17 But the person who is united to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him.” 1 Cor. 6:17 AMP
When you and I become one spirit with the Lord, we have NOTHING to
fear.
There are tons of scripture references regarding the Lord fighting
our battles and the Lord destroying our enemies. I would encourage you to study
these subjects!
All we really have to do is fast, pray, cleanse our hearts and
watch Him fight for us!
“Dear Jesus, thank You for Your promise to defend us and raise us
up. You are our only Hope. In You we place our trust! You deserve the honor and
the glory, both now and foreveryou’re your precious name and by Your blood, the
battle is already won. AMEN.”
