GOD Morning!

October 24 / What are You Eating?

 

1 Timothy 4 (Amplified Bible)

4 But the [Holy] Spirit distinctly and expressly declares that in latter times some will turn away from the faith, giving attention to deluding and seducing spirits and doctrines that demons teach,

Seriously. Turn away from anything, ANYTHING, that smacks of “doctrines that demons teach.” Scott and I had a friend years ago who lit candles every morning and prayed to many gods. Including Jesus. He told of an experience he had one morning. As he was praying to the various gods, the painting of Jesus suddenly became illuminated. Scott explained to him that Jesus was trying to show him that He is the Only One True and Living God!

Deuteronomy 6:4-15 King James Version (KJV)

⁴ Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord:

⁵ And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

⁶ And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:

⁷ And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

⁸ And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

⁹ And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

¹⁰ And it shall be, when the Lord thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not,

¹¹ And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full;

¹² Then beware lest thou forget the Lord, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

¹³ Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.

¹⁴ Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you;

¹⁵ (For the Lord thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the Lord thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.

² Through the hypocrisy and pretensions of liars whose consciences are seared (cauterized),

⁷ But refuse and avoid irreverent legends (profane and impure and godless fictions, mere grandmothers’ tales) and silly myths, and express your disapproval of them. Train yourself toward godliness (piety), [keeping yourself spiritually fit].

Hey friends!!! Why dabble in worldly wisdom? Worldly wisdom can seem attractive! It can make you feel good at times! It can fall pleasantly on our ears. It can taste good, too! But worldly wisdom turns bitter in our mouths. Worldly wisdom is nothing more than doctrines of demons. Where does worldly wisdom lead us? Straight to hell.  

⁸ For physical training is of some value (useful for a little), but godliness (spiritual training) is useful and of value in everything and in every way, for it holds promise for the present life and also for the life which is to come.

I belong to a health club. I attend strength training and athletic training classes. But spiritual training is key in every way! Training with Jesus holds promise for today and all my tomorrows!!! Why not???

⁹ This saying is reliable and worthy of complete acceptance by everybody.

¹⁰ With a view to this we toil and strive, [yes and] suffer reproach, because we have [fixed our] hope on the living God, Who is the Savior (Preserver, Maintainer, Deliverer) of all men, especially of those who believe (trust in, rely on, and adhere to Him).

¹⁶ Look well to yourself [to your own personality] and to [your] teaching; persevere in these things [hold to them], for by so doing you will save both yourself and those who hear you.
